Over the years Las Vegas has quickly become a music city with global headliners like Lady Gaga, Elton John and Celine Dion performing in over-the-top arenas and choosing to call this city home to their Las Vegas shows. But, not all Vegas music venues seat hundreds of people with break-the-bank pyrotechnics and sound systems.

Vegas is home to more intimate live music venues and bars with live music – that bring in established musical acts and up-and-coming artists. Here’s a look at a few of our favorite low-key spots to kick back and enjoy live music in Vegas.

Sand Dollar Lounge

An iconic bar, the Sand Dollar Lounge, first opened its doors in 1976 and quickly became well-known for live music thanks to performers like B.B. King and Mick Jagger gracing the stage. In 2007, the Sand Dollar closed its doors but reopened in 2009. Today, you can enjoy some of the best live music while sipping, craft cocktails and eating delicious gourmet pizza.

Double Down Saloon

Self-proclaimed as the “dark, mural-covered watering hole featuring live punk bands, bacon martinis and eclectic jukebox” the Double Down Saloon serves Vegas’ wild side – an “institution for the fringe.” Open 24 hours and located just east of the Strip and one block south of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the Double Down Saloon delivers some of the best local and national bands around. Expect to hear punk, garage, surf, lo-fi and rockabilly and bands like Supersuckers, Boss Martians, Vibrators, Lords of Altamont, TSOL, Evil Beaver, US Bombs, the Dickies, Peelander-Z and Murphy’s Law. It’s a dive bar worth visiting.

A bit larger than the previous two venues, Vinyl delivers the iconic rock ‘n’ roll feel that Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is known for. The multi-functional room hosts genres including rock, jazz, blues, pop, country and even comedy. It not only brings fans up-close-and-personal with top acts, but it also allows bands to come within arm’s reach of its loyal supporters. Drink prices are reasonable and the location within Hard Rock Las Vegas gives you access to restaurants, shops and an expansive casino once you’ve had your fill of musical entertainment.

Whether you’re looking for intimate, low-key live music bars and lounges or mega shows, Vegas entertains like no other city and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has its pulse on Vegas’s music scene.
